Im scared of 9/11

I am going on a long flight to NY next month and am really scared. Im afriad of hijackers. I mean they dont need weapons, they can break necks and take over the plane. Im thinking of backing out because im too scared. Is this ridiculous or am I right? its also non-stop…sooo?

Don’t worry - your flight crew is very aware and alert now to ANYTHING out of the ordinary - also your flight may have a plain-clothes Marshall on it - also find comfort in knowing thousands of flights operate every day without incident - also many preventive measures have been taken that are not public knowledge since ‘01 - you’ll be fine…Have a great trip !!

I wouldn’t worry about it. Think about the statistics: millions of flights are taken each day everywhere, and only that one flight was hijacked! I know it was a very scary time and it is still scary to think about, but also think how safe airports are! Whenever I travel, I always use Denver International Airport, and there I have to go through 3 security lines, 2 baggage scanning lines, and a full body search before I can enter the terminal. I know you are scared, but you will have to face it eventually, and studies also show that flying is the safest form of transportation. You will be fine, just remember to stay cautious and careful. There are also airport security guards EVERYWHERE and there is an Air Martial and flight attendants that are on board with you. Emergency procedures are very safe and effective on airplanes, and with the way things have changed since 9/11, security couldn’t be better. My dad travels to NY almost every week for business and he still has gone right after 9/11. You will be fine, and don’t back out, NY is amazing :)

Relax. . . . . all the bases are covered enjoy your trip. . . . . . And most flights now have a sky marshall on board well hidden among the passangers. . . . . . one of my cousins is a sky marshall for Delta.

It’s not ridiculous, I am scared to fly to and I’m only going to Texas! Ha When it happened I didn’t fly for a year or two but I had to because my dad was going to sue my mom for not letting me see him. Just sleep while your on the plane. If your really scared then its okay to back out, go some other time when your not scared. :)

hope I helped, xoxo :)

Since 9/11,Airports have become VERY secure, more than ever before. I,too,am going on a flight in not too long, and I was pretty shaky about it too, especially because I’ve never been on a flight before. I did some research though, and in all honesty flying is very safe now,in fact some people say its safer than driving now.

Answer #6

You will be ok. But be aware of your surroundings and always remain vigilante. If you notice something out of the ordinary say something. You never know. Also, the overall airport security has improved but even the best sometimes have their flaws. Trust me I know from first hand experience. (Im not going to mention what or how) I dont want any ideas getting into the wrong hands.

9/11 was a one time event. The reason the passengers cooperated was because they thought these were ordinary hijackers wanting to divert to Cuba. That won’t ever happen again. In future hijacking attempts, the passengers will overpower the bad guys under the assumption they are terrorists.

In addition to that, security is much tighter, reducing the likelihood of weapons making it onto a plane. The odds of being killed in your car on the way to the airport are still much higher than the odds of being killed on the plane.

Answer #8

You’re doing exactly what the terrorists want you to do! Don’t let TERRORists TERRORize you into feeling TERROR about flying in a plane to New York.

And it’s not THAT easy to snap someones neck. Granted it DOES only take like 14 lbs, but it’s hard to get in a position in which you can grab their head and get the right amount of leverage to do so.

And in the event that your plane DOES get hijacked, and you’re aware of it, and ESPECIALLY if they don’t have weapons, gather up a group of able-bodied passengers and kick their faces in. For America! …And your lives!

Answer #9

I’d just worry about BEING in New York. I hear large monsters tend to visit this time of year.

Answer #10

Most flights have federal marshals that ride with a loaded gun so I wouldn’t worry about a terrorist.
