How would a handfasting ceremony for boyfriend/gfs work?

Ok, so I am wiccan, and a member on a site that I belong to commented on my blog when I said that I am “engaged to be engaged” she asked if we were eventually going to do handfasting or a traditional wedding. now I KNOW what handfasting is, but she then said “I think there is a ceremoony for handfasting between just boyfriend/gfs” so its not getting married its more like when a guy gives a girl a promise ring, kind of an engagement. I have never heard of a handfasting that wasnt a full on marriage, not just a special commitment that kept them boyfriend/girlfriend. Ever heard of it? if so please tell me

There are three types of handfasting rituals. Their is one for life, like a normal wedding, their is one for souls for this life and th afterlife and there is one for 9 or 10 months which is a trial handfasting to see if the two are ready for the actual ritual.

the cermongy you ask about isnt for judt this life time it connect the two souls together for a enterinty and then after.
