Answer #1

well you need to find something esle to ocupy your time. like a hobby or something you love to do that can keep your mind off it. talking to someone like a cousellor, freind, parent or someone might also help maybe even take up some new hobbies

I agree that finding the cause for your anxiety is the best thing to do. You may not even know it yourself. Thats how therapy can help. It may be something you thought you were over but you arnt or even an underlying issue you have not yet tried to fix. Mel

I’ve been cutting from 13 to about 21, it’s not hard to stop, you don’t need to take antidepressants, (you’re too young nobody should take that at your age it’s useless), you don’t need to see a psychologist or talk about that to anyone if you dont want to, I didnt, I think its personal and people whodon’t do it either think you are crazy or that you want to kill yourself, they don’t understand. It’s going to stop. Someday you’re going to start loving your self and respecting your body enought to stop cutting. I still get the urge to to it sometimes but think about this, I cant wear tank tops or skirts or short shorts because I have too many scars on my arms and legs, sometimes I cut so deep I shouldve had stiches but I didnt go to the hospital, so I have some ugly scars…I told my really close frinds about it but not my parents (althought they caught me once and sent me to a doctor… who thought I wanted to kill myself, wich I didnt) Now I’m stuck with my scars, but I feel good about myself and I love myself. I dont know about you, If you have self esteem issues, but what helped me is spending time alone with myself and, learning to know me, reading some books or poetry and writing some, write down yout thoughts everyday, or quotes you like, thats should take your mind off it for a while. well good luck.

As well as what jazlovestoskate has said you also need to discover and look into the reasons why you cut…because cutting realeases endorphins which make you feel good about yourself, do you do it to feel better? to get back at people? attention? or because your sad or worried about something?

The truth is fo some years now I have also battled with this problem, I did it because it made me feel better, I felt like if I didnt do it to myself I may indanger someone else with this rage (but I have problems)…conselling is hard I’ve been doing it for most of my childhood and it is not always easy to open up to someone new, but if you find yourself in need of someone to talk to besides your parents and friends I urge you to give it a shot.

There is also various medications you can take like St Johns wart (anti-depressant), you can also ask your local doctor for some, but use this as a last resort , because not all tablets have good side effects…

I realised that there were better things to do in life than hurt myself, its very hard to stop but I find my salvation lies in making other peoples lives / precious moments happier and funnier than mine…
