How can the sopposed amount of energy being released when matter colides with antimatter - if matter is neither created nor destroyed ?
not exactly- if i strike a piece of flint with a piece of steel- both matter and not anti-matter, they will release energy in the form of sparks (heat) (light). i believe that to release an EXTREME amount of energy you need the opposite- + or -. everything contains energy and it simply moves from one source to another- i believe that the energy released would (theoretically) be both positive and negative- being birthed by the collision of positive and negative matter- there would still have to be something left of the 'parent' matter in the energy since it could neither be created or destroyed.
i am beginning to get in over my head on this question- just well read and not college taught.
Matter and energy cannot be created nor destroyed, but they can change form as expressed in Einstein's formula of E=mc² The energy that binds the subatomic particles together is released all at once with anti-matter / matter collisions. I don't believe that the resulting energy has a sign. It just is. Also, the amount of energy is huge considering the tiny, tiny, tiny size of the atoms, but in the scheme of things, it is so small that it takes sensitive equipment to detect it. (If a flea had the absolute granddaddy of a sneeze, you still wouldn't hear it unless it was inside your ear canal.)
i believe it is ENERGY that can neither be created or destroyed- so when anti- matter and matter collide it generates an extreme amount of energy because of the two basically canceling each other out and reacting- so the matter would no longer exist but the energy resulting from it would continue on.
So you're saying that all matter contains high concentration of energy and the only known way of extracting that energy is by coliding with the matter of the opposite charge ? So this may be a stupid question ,but,the energy (theoretically) released,is it + or - ?
I dont know nothing really ...but...matter is just energy contained ,hit it here or there with any ideas and its energy ...again?
