That’s not necessarily how it works. Questions are awarded points depending on their category. Some are worth more than others. The only way you would get more points than that is if people “liked” your question and gave you as many points as the question was worth.
When people answer a controversial question with an answer that pleases someone, especially in the heat of debate, people are more likely to strengthen their own views by rating up a person who has a similar opinion.
