who knows what "check your belly or eat the earth" means?

I’m almost certain it’s in reference to vegetarianism. To “eat the earth” means to eat of the earth - basically, plants.

All I know is it’s on a bridge in Raleigh and I have devoted my life to finding out what it means

That tag is no longer on the bridge on Capital Blvd but is “still” one of my favorite statements that Ive pondered many times. I hope the artist knows how much he is appreciated for intriguing people to think.

check your belly - become aware, of how much your consuming, of anything, material goods not needed but wanted, oil/gas , etc..

eat the earth- its clear isnt it? humans on this planet are consuming so much a such a rapid rate, we will literally eat our home

check your belly, or eat the earth is a message to everyone

perhaps if we all checked our bellies did our part and could somehow wake up and realize, the way our society has raised us take want take is unbalanced and begin to love our breath simply again evolve perhaps , we will not eat our home
