Im really shy and I want to become more outgoing. I know people say to just say "hi" and say "how are you", but I just think its so weird to go up to someone that I dont know and say hi. I dont know how to make friends. Also Im really short and people at school treat me like im a baby when Im 13 years old!! And they push me around. When people make fun of me I just ignore them but they keep doing it, I act like it dosnt bother me, but it doesnt work. Im just so so shy. please help. :b

To a certain point, it is really hard to overcome being shy. I always think that it is odd to randomly make friends with people, especially if they are already in a group. However, there are some things that you can do to make making friend easier.
1. Find the person by the edge. If a person is by themselves then it is easier to make friends with them.
2. I agree with raekon that joining a club helps. If you find people with similar interests, it gives you at least 10 minutes of conversation topic.
3. Work with the buddy system. If you are around someone who you are already comfortable with, it is a lot easier to approach people.
4. Dress to impress. I don't know anything about what you wear now, but what you wear now may contribute to how people treat you.
5. If you don't know what to say, remember, the most interesting thing to that person, is him/herself. Ask them about themselves and remember their names. They will soon become your friends.

if your shy then be shy. someone not so shy will come to you. but going and saying hi to people is werid yes. but if noone did it then no one would know anyone. just be yourself. some people just arnt the outgoing type. =]
