9 years of this, 5 years of therapists, psychiatrists, and dreaded medicine trails, i on the outside am doing fine, but i still feel the same, i want to just throw in the towel on trying to get better because i dont believe ill ever change

It could be your living situation, who you are living with, or where you are living. Try getting through another year or so- finish what you are doing (school, college, degree etc), and tie up all of the loose ends in your life, then go somewhere you want to go. Anywhere.. anywhere in the world. Personally that’s what gets me through life- knowing that when I am a bit older I can go anywhere I want. Try making a new group of friends and changing your attitude. Change your style (clothes, music…) and change your bedroom around. Look online for inspiration and throw out all of your old junk. Change your bed to the other side, have a clothes clean-out, sell stuff and buy new stuff. That ALWAYS works for me. I just love to change my room around and throw out old stuff haha. Get a haircut and maybe a new colour and view the world with a new face! Best of luck xxxxx

Answer #3

You didn’t specify what medication.

I have depression, OCD and anxiety. I found a combination of SSRI (ex. Celexa) and MAOI inhibitors (ex: Wellbutrin) was the only thing that worked for me. After trying tons of stuff on its own. It’s all in the combo for me.

Answer #6

I wish I had an answer to this. I’m currently going through a depressed phase, so I dont know how helpful I can be. I will say this (alright, so my therapist keeps pointing it out, but it is true), for me the depression has gotten better time wise. I go through bad spells for weeks instead of months. And yeah, it’s really tempting to throw the towel in. But really what other choice do you have (we’ll take out the dying part of it). If you’re still alive, you might as well keep trying. For no other reason then it sucks being depressed. And you may as well keep fighting. Try another therapist. Try another form of therapy. You never know.
