Will I ever feel gods presence?

Ok, I believe in god and have been trying to get close to god. My friend said she felt his presence and it felt like something lightly pushed her shoulder and she knew it was god. I have never felt his presence, or had the holy ghost or anything. So im just wondering is there something im not doing right or is he just never in my presence?

Answer #1

First the video claims that the Christian story is similar to the Mormon and the Islam stories. This is not true. There are many vital difference… Your claims are subjective… list the similarities (avoiding them is cowardice), then compare & contrast with the differences.

1. The story Jesus didn’t write the Bible either, he didn’t write ANYTHING.

2. The Book These differences are too insignificant to establish validity for the Bible. The others didn’t borrow 2/3s of their content from another religion, either.

3. The Man Neither of them claimed to be the son of God either. So these differences are irrelevant.

Secondly the Video assumes that there is nothing outside this physical realm. This is topic for a big debate in itself. Many people have logically shown that, that is not true. INCORRECT. You cannot apply logic to that which DEFIES logic.

Thirdly the video also assumes that there is lack of evidence for Christianity. In fact the Bible has more manuscripts than any other book in the world. There are many documentary evidence that support the characters and the events in the Bible. In fact there are so many documentary supports that it would take a lot of effort and a lot of irrational thinking to still say that there are no evidences. You call that evidence, they don’t… NEITHER of you can prove your right… a wash. You say there is evidence to support characters and events in the Bible. How does the documentation of historical events provide evidence as to the existence of God? Homer’s Illiad does the same thing, does that mean the Greek Gods exists?

1. One statement goes like this “Scientific study shows that prayers have no effect”. Science is by definition a study of the physical world. Anything outside of the physical world cannot be studied by science. For the same reason it is absurd to say that science has made a study on prayer. Any such studies con not be termed as scientific study. Actually there WAS a study of the biological effects of prayer in the human body. It had more to do with whether or not a person was aware that they were being prayed for. But those who applied prayer directly often exhibited the same chemical or hormone production as those who practice meditation. Think of it as a form of ‘ritualistic optimism. The video’s interpretation of the research was heavily subjective, and incorrect.

2. Another claim is that heaven is an imaginary place. Well how does he know that? The Bible does explain to us about heaven and hell do exist. If one does not believe in the Bible that would be their problem, but if they begin to say that details in the Bible, concerning heaven and hell are wrong then they need to provide evidence for their claim. The video has not done this. Video says its imaginary, Bible says its real, NEITHER can prove it. Video says the Bible is wrong, and you say the Bible is right, NEITHER can prove it. Your comment is a wash.

3. The video also claims that the belief, that Jesus Christ will come again and destroy the world (which is true by the way)… …yet another claim you cannot support; just as they cannot support their claims to the contrary. So again, your comment is a wash.

Sixthly the video claims Christianity forces people to discard rational thinking. However the Bible says “Love the Lord … with all your mind”. That is the Bible commands us to be understanding and thinking people rather than like animals that just obey some commandments blindly. Perhaps your interpretation is incorrect, or just unpopular.

Seventhly the video affirms that thinking is the solution. But this the person assumes that Christians don’t think. The truth is contrary. Many people who have started thinking, have as a result turned and become Christians. Would you like to compare those ‘many people’ with the OTHER ‘many people’ who’ve done the opposite?

I am here for the very same reason that the video claims. It is my aim to turn the deluded people to Jesus Christ. You fail because you are ignorant as to the means.

1. Why do people not look at the limitation of science and expect it to prove God? Science has a track record of exceeding the expectations of the religious world, so why continue to assume it has a limit?

2. Why is that intelligent person like you, believe in the existence of people like Aristotle and Socrates and quote their words, when you completely reject Jesus Christ who has more supporting documents than any of them? Aristotle and Socrates weren’t portrayed as the son of a religious deity… BIG difference. And not believing in the Bible’s depiction of Jesus, isn’t the same as not believing he existed.

3. Why is it that you look for evidence for God when you don’t know what type of evidence you are expecting to get? What evidence would convince you and would it be rational to seek such evidence? When it comes to metaphysical entities, deities, gods, mythology et cetera; Atheists want PROOF… not evidence… PROOF of their existence. That proof is NOT provided by legends, old wives tales, old books, or a person’s interpretation of the world around them. Atheists do not seek proof of God’s existence, no more than theists seek proof of his NON-existence. The beliefs of BOTH rest on the interpretation (perception) of the world around them, which they consider evidence. Ultimately, the only way to PROVE the existence or non-existence; is for GOD to do it personally…and directly… which leads to yet ANOTHER paradox.

Also I had taken a look at the other site. This is a huge site with entirely meaningless stuff. I would not waste my time on such a site. This is the perfect example for ones who has not chosen not to know the truth. Just because YOU don’t agree with it, doesn’t make it meaningless. And your ‘opinion’ isn’t truth… merely your opinion. Your pontification is only viewed as arrogant self-absorbtion to those who don’t share your beliefs, which makes it a total waste of time. And as usual, you’re make NO progress with claims you cannot prove or even support.

I thought it would take me a lot of time to answer this video but it just took me an hour when I finally sat down to it.

The main point that this video makes is that if Mormonism and Islam is fantasy why is Christianity not?

First the video talks about Mormonism. The video is right about calling Mormonism a fantasy. The evidences that the video provides is also right. But what the video does not touch upon is that the book of Mormon, contains things that are not historically verifiable nor is the claims of Smith verifiable. Why? Because there are no supporting documents either for the events Smith claims to have happened or to the events that is in the book that he claims to have recovered.

Next the video talks about Islam. Again what the video claims about it is true. Here again the video does not touch on the documentary support for claims of Mohammad or those for the book he wrote.

Now comes Christianity. This is where the video make many errors.

First the video claims that the Christian story is similar to the Mormon and the Islam stories. This is not true. There are many vital difference here. Lets look at some

  1. The story a. Joseph Smith is the only one who make claims about an angel appearing to

      him

    b. Mohammad is the only one making the claim that an angel appeared to him C. Jesus does not claim that angels appeared to him. Things that has happened

to him has happened to him has happened in other people's presence.
  2. The Book a. The book of Mormons was written by one man. b. The Quran was written by one man c. The Bible was not written by one man.

  3. The Man a. Joseph was an ordinary man. Nothing was mentioned about him prior to his

     birth.

    b. Mohammad was also an ordinary man and nothing was mentioned about him

      prior to his birth.

    c. Jesus was no ordinary man. His birth was prophesied about, both in the Bible

as well in many ancient scriptures in many parts of the world.

Secondly the Video assumes that there is nothing outside this physical realm. This is topic for a big debate in itself. Many people have logically shown that, that is not true. I would not argue about it here but just say that wrong assumption would lead to wrong conclusion.

Fourthly the video talks about the bubbles and the 4 billion people standing outside the bubble. What the video does not understand that, the people that are out side one delusion bubble are actually they that have placed themselves inside one of the many other bubbles that exists apart from the ones mentioned in this video. There is actually no place that can be marked out as an area outside all bubbles.

Fifthly the video make some very absurd claims.

  1. One statement goes like this “Scientific study shows that prayers have no effect”. Science is by definition a study of the physical world. Anything outside of the physical world cannot be studied by science. For the same reason it is absurd to say that science has made a study on prayer. Any such studies con not be termed as scientific study.

  3. The video also claims that the belief, that Jesus Christ will come again and destroy the world (which is true by the way) is dangerous, and that it slows scientific progress. This is a complete untrue claim. The video has presented no information as to how such a belief is dangerous and how it actually slows down scientific progress. From such statements, a thinking person can now only conclude, that the one who made this video is the one that is deluded.

Sixthly the video claims Christianity forces people to discard rational thinking. However the Bible says “Love the Lord … with all your mind”. That is the Bible commands us to be understanding and thinking people rather than like animals that just obey some commandments blindly.

Seventhly the video affirms that thinking is the solution. But this the person assumes that Christians don’t think. The truth is contrary. Many people who have started thinking, have as a result turned and become Christians.

I am here for the very same reason that the video claims. It is my aim to turn the deluded people to Jesus Christ. You can do that right away by asking yourself:

  1. Why do people not look at the limitation of science and expect it to prove God?
  2. Why is that intelligent person like you, believe in the existence of people like Aristotle and Socrates and quote their words, when you completely reject Jesus Christ who has more supporting documents than any of them?
  3. Why is it that you look for evidence for God when you don’t know what type of evidence you are expecting to get? What evidence would convince you and would it be rational to seek such evidence?

Also I had taken a look at the other site. This is a huge site with entirely meaningless stuff. I would not waste my time on such a site. This is the perfect example for ones who has not chosen not to know the truth. This is what the Jesus says about such people as he quotes prophet Isaiah:

Matt 13:14,15 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

What this verse says is that unless every person makes the right choices he shall hear but not understand, he shall see but not perceive.

I pray all ears open and all eyes sees

Find a spirit filled church and let them pray for you, by laying on of hands. You might also want to study fasting, and what it means, and ask God how much time you should devote to it, along with what should you give up for it. This helps to strengthen the spirit.

Do you spend time in meaningful worship? if not, that is very helpful, to bring you into his presence, as you concentrate on him, and not on self, or what others think.

Reading scripture and seeking God thru it, is very helpful.

The word says that God is omnipresent, meaning he is everywhere at the same time, thru the power of his spirit, so, concentrate on that, and practice his presence. Meanging to keep him on your mind, and to dwell on the scriptures that say he is very near, and within.

Find out who around you, actually feels his presence, and spend time with them, asking them for help in this area, also, ask them to pray with you and for you, concerning this.

Do you participate in the Lords supper, either cooperately, with the body or in private? This will help also, as you spend time in meditation, beforehand, thinking on what he has done for you, and what he means to you.

Test yourself, and see is doubt might be blocking you in some way, it has a sneaky way of interjecting itself upon us, and sometimes we may not even realize it.

Contact me thru funmail, if you wish, and I will give you a link for prayer.

God bless…

Now, if you Eternal life and others with you, DID UNDERSTOOD what you heard and read at above site’s you would also be inteligent enough to understand and admit evolusion and not creation by some gods on or above earth!

Take Care

Answer #6

* is there something im not doing right

If there are any gods out there, and they want you to ‘feel their presence’, don’t you think they have enough magic pixie dust to make you feel it?

Either there are no gods, or they don’t care about whether or not you feel their presence. In either case, your friend is either very special to these magical creatures, or is delusional.

brittanyg419

First of all please don’t give an ear to the Atheists hear. You are not doing anything wrong. You just need to pray. Also you don’t need to feel something physical to feel God. Keep reading your Bible and you will feel him in your Spirit.

jane_of_the_jungle what is the info that that you had asked me to read and answer. I must have overlooked it. If you do not mind could you tell me that again so that I could try to reply you.

Answer #8

I don’t know…but my friend felt the same thing and I try to get close to god too but I just dont feel anything…

Answer #9

I don’t know what city you live in, but I would invite you to my church…but I think that it really depends on you personally. I remember when I got saved, (I was in my room and said a sinner’s prayer) After I did that…I just went into regular prayer…I think it was the first time when I prayed specifically in Jesus name…and …I am not lying when I say this…I felt like I received a hug! I believe that I did. I looked online after it happened to see if anyone else had this experience, and there were people with similar stories.

So are you doing anything wrong? I don’t know. I don’t know it you ever just pray to Him, and not ask for anything for yourself. Try that for a while and see if anything happens for you.

Answer #10

Hey Brittanyg419, It seems very unlikely that all those myriads of gods that all the religious people in the world are longing for, including your friend’s god, do actually exist… But if they do exist…(and that would surprise me), they are a very indifferent lot indeed! Aren’t they?

There is nothing wrong with you! But there seems to be something wrong with all those gods…

Answer #11

Brittany, I think your doing everything right except feeling ANY presence whilst your allone is absurd. Sad to say but there is no one at the end of your praying line, do some research on the internet and you would believe me! It is very sad that so many people across the world, in so many different religions, punish themselves for the exact same thing. Go to some of my other posts here, where I’ve asked Eternal life and Silverwings to read some info which they didnt answer on, those would help you a great deal, to get over your guilt feelings and see the truth for what it is!!!

Take care and good luck, you deserve more than what your getting

Answer #12
