What can I do to take the pain away from my abs?

so my brother is helping me train for the army, and he just got back on r&r three days ago.. well two days ago we started to workout. the first day he had me do 20 squats, 10 pushups, 20 sit ups (that’s one rep) and I had to do 5 reps.. and then after that I had to do 20 ft of lunges, 30 ft of frog hops, and then sprint 50 feet (that’s one rep) and I had to do three reps. I woke up yesterday in soo much pain, I could barely get out of bed.. and the last night, we worked out again, not as bad, but bad enough to where I was almost crying. I stayed up last night really late because my muscles were spazzing and everything. we’re working out again tonight, but I can barely move, let alone more working out. so what can I do to relax my muscles and not have them hurt?

If you have 2 years then really slow down. you have plenty of time to get ready for it. Streching out after exercise however boring can really help minimalise pain over the next few days also if you try having a bath with something like radox which is suppose to relax muscles also heat with relax your muscles so hot water bottle or bath etc.

thanks for all the answers (: and I’m leaving for basic training in 2 years.. he’s trying to push me because I told him to, but..I didn’t know it would be this bad and this painful. I’ve been stretching my abs by just arching my back a little bit because they’re really tight. and yeah, I guess he’s trying to have me experience the boot camp experience.,.

if you don’t work out often, that’s the reason, your body and muscles haven’t gotten used to it yet, I would relax every so many minutes when your hurting and when most of the pain goes away I would get back to work. and I would not work out every day, take a few days off to relax and take a break.

Two Years!!! Ok, He proved his point! Slow down! You may actually loose your motivation and desire after so much pain. Not only that, but you are still growing and in two years your body will be different and react different to exercise. Also are you really planning on keeping a similar pace for the next two years! If you take as little as a month off with no exercise then your muscles will go back to their pre-workout mode and you will be just as sore as if you would not have never started working out.

But I think is providing a good bonding time between you and you will look at it fondly in the future…But why the Army??? Go Air Force! :)

You need to give your body time to rest. You also need to slow down on the amount of training you are having. You need to start off slower and let your body work up and soon you will be able to do that without a lot of pain if any but if you carry on at that rate you will end up doing more damage then good.

I did a lot of exercise using my leg muscles and even though I was hurting I stil carried on for about a week till I woke up and I couldnt walk on my legs my muscles had tensed up that much over night that I ending up in casualty the next day and had torn one of my legs and really badly strained the other one because I didnt give them I rest. now I have problems with them when I exercise for 20 minutes every other day. So please slow down! :)

Answer #6

When are you leaving for basic training? If your not leaving for awhile then there is no urgency and all that pain is unnecessary. I think he is just trying to make a point that boot camp is hard. Don’t be afraid to speak up and tell him that you need a break and tell him to stop pretending he is a drill instructor. Army boot camp physical training exercises are different if you are a male or female once you get there.

Answer #7

you could take a hot steeming bath and rub them will you are in there. that is what I do when my abs hurt from mean I do more than what I thaught that I could do, but I didn’t mean that you did more than what you thaught that you could do. I think that is great that you want to join the army. you need to be really fit like a greek olympeon sorry for my bad spelling and nerd talk but hope that helps.

Answer #8

don’t workout every day. you have to give you muscles time to relax. Workout every two-three days.

Answer #9

after working out its best to have a high protein meal .. protein helps heal the body and stop it from aching ..

Answer #10

What you are experiencing is known as Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and is very common when starting a new exercise routine. The only known treatment is time. You really need to give you body a week to recover, or you risk a muscle tear.
