What is university life like when you do not live on campus?

Answer #1

When your not living on campus its definatly not the same experience or feeling tha you would get living in dorm or in sorority. I went to college and didnt live on campus…it was just school to me. Sure there were some cool parties, but its not the same as living on the campus itself and bein surrounded by other people from the school.

Answer #2

Hmm, that sounds live-able, since I’m not much of a people’s person. Thank you :}.

Answer #3

I’ve done both. It’s obviously not the same as living on campus. You’re more disconnected when you live off campus. It isnt part of your life as much.

Answer #4

If I hadn’t been on campus, I don’t think I would have enjoyed University at all. I’m not a people person at all, and generally fairly anti-social, but living on campus made getting to class easier and everything. Also, you may not feel like you’re good with people, but when you go to a huge university, you meet people with similar interests, almost guaranteed. The people I met last year, because of being on campus are the best people I’ve ever met in my life. I would recommend living on campus.

Answer #5

You said you’re not much of a people person–if that’s true, then you’ll love off-campus life. I have lived off campus for a semester or two, and the lack of social involvement with the university was a bit of a down side for me. But, I did seem to be able to focus more on the school work and get more sleep.

Answer #6

It depends on what university. At mine, almost no one lives on campus - there are is only one or two residential colleges that are actually on campus, the rest are not. Also, most people will only live in a residential college for one year. However, this is a real university town (as in there is basically nothing else here), and the whole north part of the city has been taken over by students, so even though you dont live on campus, you may as well. If you want to escape all the craziness here, you have to move to the places that are ages away, where people live with their families.

Answer #7

I have never lived on campus. I do however know that it is different. Then again, I don’t think I would have liked living in a residence. I like being on my own without too many people around me and find living off campus perfect.
