How to & what : Choosing a university?

Okay so my biggest problem this past month has been trying to pick a university to go to…

I have 4 acceptances, and they are to: Carleton, York, Brock, and Laurier (I live in Toronto, and all the university’s are in Ontario, for those that don’t know). I got into Honors Psychology in them all. And I just have no idea how to choose…

Like I don’t like York, I think it’s crap but it’s HOME, I dont have to travel or live on residence…

And Carleton is just TOO far away…

Brock and Laurier are seeming like the best choices, but I just don’t know how to choose…

Like if I weigh out all the pros and cons they’re just soo equal, and I have friends telling me to go to one, and then other friends telling me to go to the other, and my parents are even biased cause my dad went to Brock…

I just really don’t want to make the wrong decision cause this is gonne be the next at least 4 years maybe more of my life…

I’m just sooo confused, and I don’t know how to pick a school… How would you go about this? If you were in my situation what would you do, or who and how would you choose? =S

Any help is greatly appreciated! Plus it’d be nice to get some annoymous hopefully un-biased opinions on this! Thank you!!!

you should think about the needs you need like the programs provided, will it help you or will you need to go somewhere else.

Answer #2

Go with the one that feels right to you. As corny as that sounds, it’s true. In addition to to the programs the colleges offer, you might want to take other things into account such as the types of people who attend there (do you have any friends going, social cliques, etc), class sizes, campus setting, the party scene, and what the town the college is located in is like. Plus, If either of the colleges are offering you any schoarships to go there, that is an extra bonus. But when it all comes down to it, it’s really whatever feels right in your heart that works (can’t really be explained…lol). Besides, if you don’t like the first place you decide to go to, it’s not like you’re committed there for all four years…you can always transfer.

I’ve thought about where I want to go, and I can’t choose that’s why I asked for others opinions, but that just made me more confused.

The programs are the EXACT same, so that makes no difference.

And I’ve already visited them but that hasn’t impacted my decision at all, I’ve visited all but Carleton and I haven’t visited there just because I don’t wanna mission a 5-6hour drive.

Answer #4

which one are you going to benefit from more? maybe you should plan a weekend, or longer, where you and your parents can take a tour of these different colleges. After all it’s like you said you are going to be spending the next few years of your life at this college so you want to make sure which ever one you choose you’ll be happy at. Good Luck :)

Answer #5

Well I think maybe you should think about where YOU want to go. Look at which has better programs for you, and if you absolutely have to, you might just have to visit them both ;)
