What types of things would you put under hobbies and abilites to make your application look good?

Answer #1

With hobbies it’s best to put things you are actually interested in, rather than put something you think an employer might want to hear. In terms of abilities, well you need to think about the role you are applying for and tailor your skills so they are specific to that role. For example for retail, you might say you have cash handling skills, good communicator and interpersonal skills, and you are able to work in a team and on your own. They also want to know you are pro-active. For an office job, you might need to know about microsoft packages, be good at data entry, so accuracy is important.

I would suggest writing down all the skills you have, or everything you are good at, and think about how to apply it to the job role you interested in. What is important is you get across that you are motivated, willing to learn and work hard.

It is always good to tell the truth. You can always tell them what your real hobbies are, what activities you are interested in the most. If you wrote something that is impressive but then found that it was not really yours, you will lose dignity and they will make a special note on it. Good Luck.
