Patron, If you’re looking for the actual and biblical definition then take your bible and look at Romans chapter 12 beginning at verse 9 through 21. I’ll type it out for the others who are interested. “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor (detest or hate) what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent (very passionate or enthusiastic) in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation (hard times), continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality (have an open door policy). Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another( as Christians). Do not set your mind on higher things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath( extreme anger); for it is written,’ Vengence is Mine, ‘I will repay,’ says the Lord. Therefore if your enemy hungers feed him; if he thirsts give him a drink. For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. The words in brackets are for clarification only. Hope it helps.

What a great question. You may get several different answers as so many people interpret the meaning of your question. I believe in a benevolent Lord and not a punishing one. I also believe Christianity was invented from just one man’s interpretation of the bible. I believe all religions are controlled and the people who believe in them, are believing something that has been taught to them their entire lives. This is not say that Christianity or religion is bad. It is comforting to believe that when a loved one dies, they are sitting beside Jesus in a beautiful place called Heaven. When someone tells me they are a Christian, I expect that person to be that way all the time. Not just on Sundays. I feel they should be giving, non-judgmental, follow the principals in the bible since Christians use the bible as their guide, not bring harm to others or themselves, be tolerant and understanding and most importantly, be true to what they say they believe. There are a lot of people like this but are not Christians. Would you condemn them to hell because of that? I don’t feel someone claiming to be a Christian has the right to make that decision. I would not tell someone they were wrong for believing in something, I just expect you to stand behind what you choose to believe. There are many religions. Do not be confused, Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, and the thousands more are not religions, rather denominations that fall under the religion Christianity. Each denomination of Christianity is slightly different from the next one but they all have one thing in common, to praise, worship, and give thanks to the one and only God. If that is the main “rule” or objective of a Christian, then do that. A person claiming to be a Christian should stand for good. This is broad I know, but that is how I feel. Just try to be the very best person you can be and especially be kind to others.

When God looks down.. he wants to see himself reflected in us… however, we are all at diff. levels of growth, and understanding, the common denominator is Jesus Christ, and the cross, he makes it possible for whosoever will to come into the kingdom… it is wonderful when you can look at a person and tell that he/she is Christian, but, that can not possible appy to everyone, because there are babes in the crowd… as well as toddlers, etc. and sometimes they don’t have a clue. But faith, mercy and grace hold them… hope this helps… God Bless..

Remember Jesus’ two commandments in Metthew

Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul

Love your neighbor like you love yourself.

The Pharasees followed Jewish law like lawyers and Jesus pointed out that they were lost in the details of the laws and missed the underlying principal which is Love.

When I see someone who claims to be a Christian I try to determine if their actions are guided by love and compassion or by rules and judgement. Are they followers of the highest ideals of Jesus or are the modern equivalent of Pharasees?

I have to believe this is a trick question. As a Christian, you already know what you should act like. I don’t believe in carrying around a Bible to show off, or preaching to everyone you meet. But, when people watch you they should see someone who reflects Christ. You are tempted as everyone else to do and say things you shouldn’t. But, with practice, you can overcome temptation. And it does take practice. The main things I believe you have to show are fairness, kindness, and self restraint. Don’t shun people because they are different or unpopular. Put others first and pray, pray, pray.

We should all try to follow Jesus example. God knows we are human therefore he sent Jesus to pay the ultimate price for our sins. I think in this day and age it is very important that we are REAL. We can not set a good example or bring joy to God by being fake or hypocritical. I also believe that many people do not want to be associated with churches due to this behavior by many Christians.

Most importantly, LOVE PEOPLE. Hate the sin, not the sinner. Try to be understanding and don’t condemn people. Don’t judge others, it is not our place.

Answer #8

We are all a direct reflection of Christ so we should follow him but expect to mess up every now and then. That’s part of human nature but we dont have to keep letting the same sins that beat us that time beat us the next time. I used to not be able to go a day or two without sex and now I am approching my first 30 days. You have to be committed to being better for Christ. God knows your heart but he also knows that its not okay to stay the way that you are. Develop a relationship with Christ and see how you begin to live your best life as I have

Answer #9

Love him.

Serve him.

Follow him.
