taking birth control

this will be my 3rd day of taking birth control and iread all the info on it from the doc’s office to the info you get from the pharmacy and then the leaflet from the pill. my question is, is the pill still effective if you take it a few minutes before ex if I take the pill at 3:45pm on sat and then that it 3:42pm will it count as missing a dosage.

no you need to be taking the pill properly for at least 1 MONTH for it to become effective at preventing pregnancy if youve been taking it for less than a month( like 3 days) then you need to double up with condoms if you plan to have sex, because you have a very high chance of falling pregnant and no, its not considered missing a pill unless its been more than 6-12 hours after your regular time also other things can affect the pill throwing up and having diahreah within 4 hours of taking it will make it not work as will some medication if youve went off and had sex alreday then you can very well be pregnant so if its been less than 3 days (72 hours) take the morning after pill if its been more taking it wont do anything to prevent pregnancy but it can cause birth defects to your developing child if you want to find out if your pregnant see a dcotor for a blood test or take a pregnancy test 22-3 weeks after you had sex (any sooner and the results wont be accurate) once again though, if youve been taking the pill for less than a month your probablly pregnant and be aware that the pill does not protected you against stds

yes I went to the er and then to an ob/gyn I was bleeding heavily for whatever reason. when I left the er I thought I have fibroids and the the ob/gyn said I didn’t. yes I had a blood test and they did a pregnancy test and a vaginal sonogram but me and my boyfriend use protection we had intercorse. the doctor gave me ortho tri-cyclen lo and I started on day 1 to regulate my period

Answer #3

well now its a bit confusing if you had sex or unprotecetd sex theres always a chance of pregnancy and if youwere pregnant before you started the birth control pill, it could now be causing birth defects to your developing child hoefully they took a blood test and made sure you werent pregnant whn you atreted the pill if you think you might be, take a taest or/asnd see a dcotor and if you are pregnant, you need to stop taking the pill

Answer #4

Jaz just like to point out that what you said doesn’t apply to all the different types of pill. The one I am on was effective from the second I started to take it- and it says so in the leaflet. Secondly mine is not counted as a missed pill until 24 hours after regular taking time.

Answer #5

thank you but by EX I meant example. my boyfriend and I haven’t had sex for a couple of weeks I was put on the pill to regulate my period

Answer #6

Nope not at all, a couple of minutes will make no difference what so ever. The leaflet should explain the individual policy on missed pills but no way does 2 minutes count as missed.
