Sole custody VS Permanent Guardianship?

my divorce papers state I have sole custody of my son but I had givein my x mother and law perminate guardianship when I was going through a though timebut the x mother and law is allowing myson to live with his dad im wanting my son back home so do I have still have sole custody and whats the diffrences between the???

Sole Custody: An arrangement whereby only one parent has physical and legal custody of a child and the other parent has visitation rights.

Permanent Guardianship: The Permanent Guardian will be responsible for providing for the child both physically and emotionally. The Guardian must provide a healthy and safe living environment, an education and all the necessary and appropriate medical treatment, including but not limited to medical, dental and psychiatric care.
