Is it smart to get involved with someone with PTSD?

He was shipped to Afghanistan 3 weeks after 9/11…. been through a lot and now has PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)..He’s out of the marines now, but apparently he gets a prescription for marijuana for his PTSD… anyway, what’s it like dealing with someone like that? Is it too bad?

Answer #1

Answer #2

It is a road of ups and downs, and it will take a strong women to handle that, but he can work on it as well.

Answer #3

No, war vet can be hard to deal with at times, and I don’t think you have a clue what she is dealing with.

Answer #4

I agree, people with ptsd r kinda difficult to have a relationship with

Answer #5

I can not believe they give him marijuana for it, I don’t get that, nor would I want it.

Answer #6

Wouldn’t the medication make him…more paranoid?

Answer #7

Everyone has issues with something. Like I have PTSD too but im only a teenager. Ive never been in a war but it does affect me with daily life. Its not like it affects me every second of the day, but each person deals with stuff differently.

Answer #8

Yes that’s very true

Answer #9

thanks.

Answer #10

There’s no good way to answer this question. It totally depends on how much he has been affected, what sort of symptoms he exhibits, whether he is getting help (I’m sorry, but I dont believe any medication, especially one that hasnt actually been proven to help with PTSD, is going to work without some sort of therapy or something else in adjunct to the medication, i could be wrong…). Any time you go in to a relationship with someone who has some sort of mental disorder, you go in expecting some issues. It is just part of the package. A label cannot describe what is part of that package. You just kinda have to see as you go. If you can’t or dont want to deal, then that is fine. It can be stressful when someone else has issues.

Answer #11

Hey, If I was playa hating, I wouldn’t be showing interest in him lol.. Happy (late) Veteran’s Day, by the way.

Answer #12

Because he has PTSD does not mean he is paranoid. There are many different types of it. Also pot doesn’t make every single person paranoid when they smoke it.

Answer #13

flaws and PTSD are different. Just because someone acts like a jerk sometimes or all the time or has issues does not mean he/she has PTSD. PTSD can effect different people in different ways, from mild to severe.

Answer #14

No, it calms him down. He’s really chill after he smokes. He never smokes in public by the way, always in his home.
