Who here has received their PhD or is on the track to receiving it?

I know that would be years off for me (I’m only an undergrad), but I was just wondering if it’s really as terrible as my professors say it is. I’d really like to hear some experiences.

The best way to get an answer to this (seemingly, since no PhD’s have stepped forward) is to interview a few in person.

What are the specifics you’re worried about? In your undergrad, before you even consider a PhD, you need to get a master’s…not to mention have a field of study in mind. Different degrees are obtained with varying levels of stress. My sister in law is getting a psychological phd “psy d” and it’s a lot of work, clearly, but the big hassle is in the extra stuff - working with clients, etc, that puts her closer to getting her license to practice.

My father in law has a PhD in education…I’m sure that was in many ways, easier than a psyd, only because he didn’t have to work towards a professional certification.

I’ve only got a four year degree….I often wonder about advanced degrees, but I’ve worked with dozens of PhD’s, and it seems like most of them simply have a passion for getting really into their area of study that I simply don’t have :)
