If a pregnant women had a blood test, would the doctor be able to tell if she was pregnant just from her blood results?
@informer220 Depends on the reason the doctor ordered the test...routine physical or something such as abdominal pain, constipation, etc. I just didn't understand your connection of elevated WBC or RBC. Neither which should be elevated unless there is an underlying diagnosis such as infection or perhaps polycythemia.
Yes, if a physicain orders a hcg, then yes you can tell from a blood sample. In fact, a serum hcg is much more accurate than a urine hcg. As for the WBCs and RBCs increasing, informer, what are you talking about?
I said small amount of course not surpassing the usual maximum of R/WBC number... or even really showing any significant increase... O_o I was just saying what could be seen on a simple test... nothing more...
@utopia
the doctor will be looking specifically for the hcg not if its simple blood test... I think the user is asking about a standard blood test... a doctor wont check unless YOU ask him too...
white blood cells increase slightly, so do the red blood cells but thats about it... so no not really
I guess it was the way you worded it...
