Does anyone know if people with mental issues such as bi-polar can adopt?

Hello, I am wondering if people who are bi-polar can adopt, i am not sure i am going too look a bit on Google too see what i dig up. But so yeah i am starting too see this wonderful woman but, She is bi-polar, also she cannot have kids do too the fact that she had cervical cancer. So yeah she is wonderful sweet and kinda and also very funny and beautiful she is amazing, But what i am wondering is will she be able too adopt with her illness? Thank you for reading :)

That will depend on the country you are in, the local laws and the amount of children who are for adoption.

Where I live, laws say that during any adoption process, the interests of the child are superior to all other interests. So the authorities will decide to give the child to the “best” family available. Several aspects will be considered before giving a child to a family. Wealth, cultural similarity (for older kids), stress resistance and health of the parents, stability of their relationship, age of the parents and so on…

And as where I live there are often more people who want to be adoptive parents than there are children to be adopted, someone with mental issues would probably not have a chance - even though they would in theory be allowed to adopt a child should there ever be a shortage of potential adoptive parents or an extremely large amount of kids who need a new family.

I wonder that too. I think as long as they don’t have a criminal or aggressive history and are well suited to be a parent, they would probably be able to.
