If your laptop does not already have a IDE (integrated Drive Electronics --- which is a cd drive) then you can just buy one that has a usb port end or take an existing CD-ROM drive from a desktop and use the cable that connects to the power supply and connect use a USB connector....if installed correctly it should open correctly and can be used to run CDs on a laptop without an IDE connection port....

Yeah, If you install a DVD drive (or maybe a DVD/CD drive) it will work just as well....
you need a dvd ripper, preferably one that can get past the copy protection
would it work for DVDs aswell as CDs?
