Kitten has no tail?

Hi everyone. I adopted a kitten today from a private party who was giving them away. I didn’t feel comfortable asking since the kitten was free, but she has no tail. Just a stub there. 1 other kitten in that litter also had no tail but I’m not sure about the others. Momma had a tail. I didn’t see the father. Any ideas? I’m clueless. And will this impact the kitten in its life in any way? I don’t know the breed.

I agree…there is Manx blood in this baby. One thing you’ll notice as it grows, is that it’s hind legs will appear longer…more like a wild Manx or Bobcat (tho this kitten is the result of a domesticated Manx breeding)…They are built slightly different than a regular house cat.

I agree, utopia. The kitten is probably a mixed breed that is the result of the father/mother having enough Manx present to create a couple offspring without tails. Not having a tale won’t effect your cat. It’ll be just fine. Make sure you take it to a veterinarian for a check up and shots.

REPLY TO MELUVSKITTLES:

From the kittens I seen, there were 2 black and white ones, and one gray one. I think the gray one had a tail, but the black ones didn’t. Strange…

I had a pitch black kitten with just a stub and she turned out fine. I think s/he will be just as playfull as any other kitten would be!
