Why did Cain get scorned for giving and Able praised?

Kain gave of his crop and Able gave of his First born lamb. But God accepted Able’s Tribute and not Kain’s. My question did not both give? And Yet kain was scorned for it. Was it that Able gave the best he had to God and Kain just gave?

Answer #1

But Kain was a farmer, He gave want he grew him self. He worked real hard to give that fruit or veggies. All kain did was set around and watch lambs eat and grow. So cain brought some of his crops, didn’t have to be the best, just was some of it, cause he put his sweat and time into it. All this work and God was unpleased with it. So cain got mad, Honestly I can see that. He got mad cause his wasn’t good enough. That he was second to a person who set around watching animals. Even if cain didn’t know that blood was a better offering, God should have been happy he got anything at all. Come on he worked hard for those fruits of veggies and he gets a well you should have done better speech, thats crap right there. God should have been happy that cain thought enough to give at all. Man has to eat ya know. they weren’t living in the garden anymore. They was kicked out and rejected. SO at the times they grew there own stuff. How would you react if you worked in a field from day to dusk, busting your butt and you give of some of your crops and it wasn’t good enough. Thats what im getting at.

P.O.D,

Let’s look at it. Genesis chapter 4 . Paraphrasing here. Adam and Eve “knew” each other, twice, once Eve had Cain and then later she had Abel. Cain was a farmer and Abel was a keeper of sheep. Now let’s pick it up at verse 3. And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. Did you see it? Abel brought of the FIRST fruits of his flock, the very best there was to be found. Cain brought second best. He just brought fruit. It doesn’t say the best fruit. God asks us throughout the bible to give Him our best or our first fruits. Any time in the Old Testament when there was a sacrifice or an offering the people were told to give of the first fruits or the very best they had. Why? Because God deserves it. He gave us His best in the form of His only Son. Blessings..

Answer #3

God wanted that to symbolized something that was pure, he made it clear to both of them that they were to make a LIVING sacrifice unto him, Cain took the easy way out by chunkin some fruit and veggies on the alter, while Able was humble and he found a pure lamb and sacrificed that to God. Answer #4

Cain didn’t get an approval from God for his offerings because he didn’t offer a “blood” sacrifice like Abel.Cain was a farmer and he offered God some vegetables and Abel was a shepard and he offered God a lamb which God was pleased with. This is all in the book of Genesis. Hope this helped:D

Answer #5

Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins… there was no blood in the vegatable sacrifice, and I think that represents mans offerings today… without the blood, we are not accepted… we can not come on our own terms… we have to come according to what he has laid out for us, and he does not, will not change it…

Answer #6

yes…it is apparent that the offering wasn’t of the most importance, though it is of some note that Able recognized the idea that blood offerings to God were important before the Mosaic Law was given. It likely speaks to the type of man each was. Besides look at Cain reaction - jealousy, anger and even when conseled by God to watch his temper, he killed his brother. It suggest then that Cain’s offering was unacceptable because his attitude, not just the type of offering given.

Answer #7

Cain gave to the Lord what he had left over and Able gave up the best of what he was given.

Answer #8

Abel gave WITH LOVE.

Answer #9

Opps i spelled his name wrong. He thanks for the advice

Answer #10

As I read it, Cain gave grudgingly, with hatred and anger in his heart, as shown by his response: when G-d accepted Abel and his gife, Cain killed him. Abel, on the other hand, gave freely and in love, from the best of his produce.

If you had a birthday and got two gifts, one given out of obligation in sullen resentment, the other out of love, which would you prefer? G-d wants us, not keeping the rules out of obligation and fear and anger.
