I think fear led to the invention of lying. Someone did not want to get in trouble for somethig they did, and they lied to get out of punishment. This same mentality is what drives many people to lie today, along with the idea of lying to steal, cheat, or commit other wrongdoings.
I suppose, if you're religious, I'm not into religion that much. I was looking for something more plausible but thank you for your answer :)
I think the ability to decieve is part of the human condition....every notice how quickly a lie can fly from a person's mouth...
