What do I have to look forward to in child birth

What do I have to look forward to in child birth? I’m 18 have my own apartment and a job but thats still not enough to prepare myself. Lately I’m only focusing on the negatives and I’m scared to death. Also what helps morning sickness?

What do you get to look forward to in child birth?

Well, if you are lucky enough to have a textbook labour…

-severe contractions that can last from a few hours to a few days (my 2nd child was a 72 hour labour) -back labour -possibility of requiring induction (if you don’t dilate) -water breaks (can happen at any time, but if it happens in the bed, chances are, you have to lay in it until you’re done) -no food or drink during the entire process (only ice chips for you, young lady) -nurses inserting their fingers into your vagina often to check dilation (very uncomfortable, especially when you’re already in severe pain) -the feeling that your body wants to push every organ out through your vagina (bearing down) -an episiotomy (cutting of the skin between the vaginal opening and anus) -you’ll probably release your bowels (yep - poop in the bed) -push! (a lot more work than it looks like on tv…could take awhile if you’re not doing it right) -forceps (baby can’t come out? Doctor goes in to get it) -baby comes out…now push out the placenta -stitches for the episiotomy

Now baby is here…

-cramps -heavy bleeding -nurses pushing on your tender belly all the time -can’t pee (and when you do, the stitches burn) -sitz bath -engorged breasts (if you don’t breast feed) -exhausted from childbirth, but forget about that - you now have sleepless nights. -when baby cries, boobs leak!

Anyway, I have 3 kids, so it’s obviously worth it.

I take care of a bunc of kids everyday 4 and younger… don’t worry yourself.. if you do, and you child see’s you, it could actually play a bad part in the child development.. don’t stress out over little things, and if you are really ever stressed out, try to hide it from your child. be happy and positive as much as possible, and don’t yell at your child for little things like spills.. it will happen time to time, no need to be mad. do make sure they know their mistake. when disciplining, give them one consequence, and if they do it again, stick with your word otherwise your child will learn to take advantage of you and you will have a very hard time to control them later. don’t push your child to learn anything. make things fun, and give them time. just be a good parent… the most important thing there is to know though… ALWAYS try your best to be POSITIVE!!! everything counts.. I know you can do it, don’t worry. things will happen as they happen. :) oh, and crackers can possibley help morning sickness.

Answer #5

pretty much taking care of a child… it depends on how you raise your kid early on.. if you want a good kid, take my advice, discipline well, don’t spoil, no anger over little things, (proper nutrition is a good role too), and stay positive. also, talk to your kid about dangers or things they should look out for (like drugs, sex, ect..).. and the hardest thing of all… their peer group… friends can really change a person.. don’t let them get into the wrong crowd. taking care of a kid really isn’t all that hard, as long as you know how to parent and raise a good kid. books and classes actually do work also.. you’ll have a good family with your new child. I promise :)
