How long untill your finger start to hurt when you play the guitar

I got it yesterday

Answer #1

I can play for a long time now because my fingers are a lot stronger now

Answer #2

I think that it’s different for each person, depending on how much you play or practice. It also depends on your skin (softer skin and no calluses means it will hurt sooner). For some people it hurts the very same day, for others it takes a few days. I know that, for me, it hurt my fingers the same day.

Answer #3

depends if you play a steel string guitar or a plastic string… with steel string you’re guarunteed to be in pain after about 10 minutes if you’ve not played before. if it’s plastic I doubt you’ll hurt the same day, it will hurt when you try to play again the next day… got to build up those finger ends!!

Answer #4

it just depends on how hard you press, types of strings you use, and how tough of skin you have.

Try pressing a little lighter (unless its not enough to get a clear note). also you could buy some flat-wound strings. they seem a little less painful on the fingers. and if that doesnt work, just keep playing and you’ll get calluses or your skin will just get tougher
