Headlice

We have been battleing headlice on my 9 yr old daughter for about 4 months now, its insane! We have tried all the lice shampoos and sprays and whatever else there is in the pharmacy, we have tried mayo on the head, vaseline, olive oil, we have rinsed with vinegar and we have combed and combed and combed! But the darn lice keep coming back! Does anyone else have any helpful advice that they could share with me about getting rid of head lice? Please help!!!1

Answer #1

I had lice myself a few years ago and what I did was bag everyhting up in my room and I left town. a bit over done, but I was in need of a trip. I continued to wash my hair with small combs that scrap out the lice. when I came back there was no sign at all of lice. worst is you may have to shave her head

Answer #4

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,         And maybe lessen the cares in your way;         And also, too, to help you to know,         That in knowing you, many others grow!

Make sure you are using a “Lice” comb made specifically to get the lice and nits. You probably have to thoroughly comb her hair section by section once a week for three weeks to get rid of all lice including newly hatched ones.

Also, stress to her that she shouldn’t ever place someone else’s head gear on her head.

Answer #5

put some tea tree oil into your shampoo or conditioner, lice ghate that and after a few washes theyll all die also to jeep them away wash everything they use…clothes, blankets, pillos, and put things like headbands, hairclips ect in the freezer for a day to kill any on them but know that if your kids go to school therell usually be other kids there with lice, so a few people will get it so youll just have to get rid of them all over again

Answer #6

I JUST HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS TEA TREE OIL IT IS CHEAPER THEN ANY LICE SHAMPOO AND WORKS MUCH BETTER. THEY SAY A FEW DROPS IN YOUR SHAMPOO THEN SOMB OUT THE LICE. I PUT THE TEA TREE OIL ON BOTH MY DAUGHTERS HEADS AND PUT A BATHING CAP OVER THEIR HEADS FOR 20 MINS THEN WASHED AND COMBED. BE SURE TO TEST ON A SMALL PART OF YOUR DAUGHTERS SCALP AS IT CAN CAUSE AN ALLERGIC REACTION. MAKE SURE TO COMB THROUGH THEIR HAIRE EVERY COUPLE DAYS TOMAKE SURE YOU KILLED THEM ALL WITH THE FIRST SHAMPOOING, IF NOT YOU CAN DO IT AGAIN. AND FOR FUTURE REFERENCE DOING THIS ONCE A MONTH WHILE YOUR DAUGHTER IS IN SCHOOL WELL REPELL ANY LICE THAT MAY BE GOING AROUND HER SCHOOL. GOOD LUCK!

Answer #7

Not about getting rid of it… but to repel it… gel or hair spray, lice doesn’t usually go into hair that has either.

Answer #8

Did you wash all clothes, bed linens and anything else that would come into contact with her hair in bleach with very hot water? If not that could be why they keep coming back.

Good luck

Answer #9

It is possible that she keeps getting it from someone she hangs out with. So no matter what you do, if she keeps coming in contact with the source, you’re never going to be able to get rid of it…

Answer #10

inform her school as if you get rid of it , it will cm bk if the students hv it . gd luck. x
