What would happen if you gave your dog chocolate?

Your dog would die, they can’t handle chocolate and it kills them

My friends dog (large dog) stole a complete chili chocolate from the living room table once. Then he drank all his water and after that the water in the toilet. And afterwards he had congestion. When he finally managed to get the chocolate through, he had his behind burning and he put it on the grass and pulled himself forward with his front paws. Then he sat into a pond and refused to come out….

I guess a dog would only have the congestion problem if he ate normal chocolate. I’m sure it’s not good for them.

i believe your dog would be ok if it were a small amount and not dark chocolate because my dogs would be dead if they weren’t suppose to eat chocolate

small amount probley wont kill the dog but still wouldnt give it any its really bad for them

you shouldnt try it. but then you cant watch what they eat all the time. they might eat some when they are not with you. good luck.

A little bit is ok but too much is poisonous :/ Still Roald Dahl used to feed his dog a full packet Smarties every dinner time… aha xD (Not sure why I thought of that… xD) Just wouldn’t recommend it.

Just because the dog is not dead does not mean it is not suffering…how do you know that the pointless exercise of giving a dog chocolate doesn’t leave him with continuous stomach pain,if only the dog could talk.

I had about five little chihuahuas get a bunch of chocolate once … Nothing happened. But some dogs can handle some and some can’t . I wouldn’t recommend letting your dog eat chocolate , and if they have keep a good eye on him and if you notice that he looks sick or has diarrhea take him to a vet.

Even tho rotten sheeps answer is the top one because people think its funny your answer should be the top one. Chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, citrus fruit, and other things along those lines will make a dog incredibly sick because they all contain a chemical in them that makes a dogs stomach flip….which they can die from.

chocolate is bad for a dogs heart, a little is ok but too much can cause serious problems

There is a stimulent in chocolate similar to caffeine (theobromine) which is metabolised much more slowly by animals than by humans. It can cause problems with heart rate, seizures etc. It may not always happen when a dog consumes chocolate, but the fact is this compound is toxic to them and even small amounts can cause their death.

Well, I’ve heard it kills them. But that’s definitely not true. My dad feeds our 5 pound Chihuahua chocolate everyday. She’s fine.
