Should I lie to my doctor about having sex?

Okay. Here’s my situation. I’m sexually active, but my mom doesn’t know. She always wanted me to tell her when I thought I was responsible enough to “diddle” as she calls it, and then she would take me to get birth control. My appointment is tomorrow, so I would really appreciate it if someone would answer this for me soon. When I go to the womans pavilion tomorrow with my mom, and the doctor calls me in there (I’m going by myself into the little room), he’ll ask me if I’m sexually active, if I say yes, will he make me lay down and spread my legs to do a pap smear an all that good stuff? Or will he just run a blood test? I’ve never had a pap smear done and it kinda freaks me out so I was wondering if I lie and say I’m not sexually active will the doc just run a blood test to know what kind of pill to put me on? And if I lie will it harm me in any way? The only reason I’m even considering lying is because I don’t want my mom finding out that I went ahead and started having sex.

I would tell ur docter the truth just in case if u go on birth control they like to now the facts before getting put on it,.. they usuallly wont do a pap smear right then an there they need to get everthing set up so they will give u another appointment to go in for that. yeah they r scary i admit but believe me in the end its worth it b.c u were makin sure u were healthy an everything.. i hope this helped… good luck

Dear disorderlyconduct, The doctor is the one you need to be totally truthful to. He/she is the one who could one day save your life. Having a pap can be uncomfortable by being mostly intrusive to a lady but these are one of the tests that can save your life. Part of being mature enough for sex is being mature enough to take the responsibilities that go along with it. Now’s the time to be mature. Sue…good luck
