Excersising when sick - ok or not?

I am getting a cold/flu so I feel like crap. However, I am in the middle of a hardcore excersise & healthy eating program to lose weight fast in time for my birthday coming up. I can’t skip the gym again as I didn’t go yesterday - is it okay to go today? Will it make me sicker or will it actually help sweat it out?

Answer #1

it’s never a good idea to excercise when you are sick…it can cause some serious damage to your heart that is allready overworked from the flu.

Rather wait till you are totally healthy/

Answer #2

continue the program thru food diet at the moment, and rest while you’re sick.. besides, you might even lose some more weight due to being sick, so just rest.. (:

Answer #3

I know it doesn’t happen fast, I’ve always excersised since I was a teen. I’m just stepping it up a bit under the supervision of a personal trainer. I’m starting to see results already, I just don’t want to undo the good work I’ve done to date.

Answer #4

weight loss does NOT happen fast and if your sick and exerscise when youve alreday been exerscising too much its not going to do your body any good and the most likley thing to happen is that you stay sicker for longer

Answer #5

No, it’s really harmful for your immune system. Look at it this way, millions of blood cells are fighting their hardest to get you healthy again, do you really need to throw a hurdle into that? I haven’t gone to the gym for eight days today because I’m getting over a SUPER bad tonsillitis bout (it happens to me a lot, with severity). I recommend staying home, the gym will be there. Cut down on food intake if you’re super worried.

Answer #6

Not a good idea. Your body is tired enough–it isn’t smart to put it under vigorous stress. (:

Rest, doll.

Answer #7

Okay I’ll just go for a walk then :)

Answer #8

yeah, you should. it’ll help loosen up.
