It doesn't matter the gender of the child; go with whatever color you like. We painted our daughter's walls and ceiling sky blue then painted in grass along the base boards all around and a big tree. Sorta' like being outside.
the colour blue brings the walls in and makes teh room feel/look smaller.
for a child you dont want to make them feel uncomfortable so go with unisex yellow.
I love blue...but there are all shade of blue... from baby blues to sky blues to blue walls white ceilings. It's def a tough call...good luck!
If you are thinking of using just one color then use blue but i think you should use both color.Like blue in two wall and yellow in two wall.
what if you used both had 2 blue walls and 2 yellow walls, and choose one of the other 2 be more viborant and the other color more light
