Classic Female Authors

We’re doing a project on Classic Female Authors in my advanced placement english class. I have to read three books by the same author and find a few critical analysis’ on each of those books. I’ve already done a project like this on Jane Austen last year and enjoyed it. Any recommendations on an interesting author meeting those qualifications? Thanks!

Answer #1

I loved Charlotte Bronte… her work is amazing..

Other options… Virginia Woolf (dont know how many books she wrote) Mary Shelley Alice Walker (the color purple) Laura Ingalls Wilder

Answer #2

Agatha Christie, if your interested in mysteries Also try Madeline L’engle she should be considered classic.(She wrote a wrinkle in time, swiftly tilting planet, many waters, house of lotus, etc.)

Answer #3

You could try Louisa May Alcott.

Answer #4

One of the Bronte sisters. Jane Eyre is a great book. If you like Austen, you would probably love the Bronte sisters. However, I can’t recommend Wuthering Heights. I know it is a classic. However, I do not care for it. If you want to go more contemporary, you might try Zora Neale Hurston. Olive Ann Burns is also great. What about JK Rowling? I know she is not a definitive “Classic” but she is well on her way.

Answer #5
