Canadian Thanksgiving celebrates the bountiful harvest of the fall rather than the celebration of the Pilgrims and the discovery of the new world that the American Thanksgiving celebrates.

Correct and also because fall / winter comes much earlier up there than in most of the united states, so the celebration is earlier
