Dear rock3rtru, Depending on where you live…Some places you must promise never to have children if you marry a first cousin. Some States do not allow the marriage. Sue…good luck

I don’t know Norwegan laws but in most of the world it is legal for 1st cousins to marry. In the US 24 of the 50 states have laws against 1st cousins marrying. Birth defects are slightly higher in marriages of 1st cousins compared to unrelated couples but not alarmingly higher. Historically a suprising number of marriages were between cousins.

Albert Einstein, FDR, and Charles Darwin all married 1st cousins.
