Bladder/Kidney stent removal.

I had a kidney stone removed last week and the put a stent in my ureter. (Which is strange.. 16 year olds shouldn’t get kidney stones. I have 3 more still in my left kidney. Kidney stone total: 4 including the one they removed.)

Anyway, I’m having the stent removed tomorrow. I’m really nervous.

So for those of you who had one removed or know someone who had one removed, is it going to hurt? Don’t lie to make me feel better either. If it hurts say it hurts.

Answer #1

I just had it done. It hurt a little. But other than that it was really just uncomfortable.

Answer #2

I already had it out.. MONTHS ago. Stop answering this, people. xD

I have a stent in and unless I drink a gallon or more of water it is very uncomfortable. The more water I drink the more sand or small stones I see in my urine. My doctor told me that drinking more water would help the pressure and it does. I just have to tell myself to drink up, and do you want to fell uncomfortable?

I had a stent put in April and in May the surgery. I have a blocked kidney due from a blood vessel lying on top of the reneal tube. The stent insertion hurt (pinches mostly). My bladder was so inflammed for 3 days that is hurt/stung like hell when I pissed. I was still pissing blood for 4 days afterwards and has finally lighted up in color. I can still feel the stent in me and am limited to positions like leaning forward, sideways or lying on my side. I can only sleep on my back or right side. I can’t carry anything slightly heavy on my right side or if I walk too much, my kidney is sore.

I just removed my stent myself on SUnday.the only painfull part was pulling the first inch or so out then it did not feel like anything..Now afterwords you will be uncomfertable for a while. My uncomfertableness still has not gone away..I cant sleep or sit for long periods of time…I hope you have a better experience than I did..I am not going to lie to you it hurts when its in but the time it comes out you feel relieved and it hurts a bit

Just a correction, there is no age limit set to kidney stones. Even a 15 month old baby can have kidney stones. About 1 in 10 men and 1 in 20 women will experience at least one kidney stone by age 70. http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/do-you-have-kidney-stones-555172.html http://www.health.harvard.edu/press_releases/kidney_stones.html

I haven’t been through having stents for kidney stones or know anyone who went through it, the pain can differ a lot from what I read online. Some said it hurt more putting it in than removing it. While some said it was excruciating, but brief. And some said it wasn’t too bad at all. Different pain tolerance levels and different procedures doctors use will affect the pain people express, so the best you can do is just hope for the worse, and it probably won’t be that bad when it’s done.

Answer #7

What I meant by shouldn’t get them is that it isn’t common. I know that anyone can get them. It’s just not common for younger people.

Answer #8

I have a stent in right now. I have had one before and it is slightly painful to have it removed, but it is very quick, and to me it was worth a little pain to get it out! I have such pain with the stent in- good luck to you. If you have pain meds take them before the removal.
