Does alcohol get stronger in time?

I had half a bottle Absinth and half a bottle apple sours leftover from a party so I out it together in one bottle and sealed it. so this is a month later and when we took one shot of it e almost passed out and became seriously drunk… It tastes the same as a month ago but is much stronger, do you think it might have been becuse of the time it spent sealed?

Answer #1

If the difference you noticed was obvious, then it could be possible. I am sorry bro :P Don’t really have any knowledge about alcohol xP

Answer #2

No, liquor or spirits not get stronger in a bottle. There amount of alcohol is already too high for any further fermentation. Since alcohol evaporates before water left open it would get weaker instead of stronger but sealed the ratio remains the same. You simply noticed the effect of alcohol more than usual due to having an empty stomach, being tired, having low blood sugar, etc. Absinth was banned for a long time because it was thought to drive people insane. Now we know it doesn’t but the folklore behind it seems to encourage wild claims about the beverage.
