Parakeet help!!!

My parakeet CONSTANTLY screeches! Inside and out of the cage, it drives me extremely crazy. It has food and water and I clean it’s cage once every two weeks. What can I do to shop this? Any advice is welcome! By the way we got him like 2-3 months ago…

Whenever ever I try to talk to it, she just puts her head down, I don’t hit her, but I often wack the cage or yell at it. Do you think that could be the cause of it?

Answer #1

Please don’t scare your parakeet by whacking the cage or yelling at it… birds are easily spooked. It’ll make it even more restless or unfriendly towards you. And jenasis gave great advice, screeching is normal for them. Also, sometimes it’s also a call for your attention, some birds just love you doting on them. A feathered friend or lots of toys will do it good too.

Answer #2

also cycle toys 3 toys is what I have for my parrot and 2 others that sit in the drawer that I cycle around every week.

Answer #3

Another parakeet, or at least a mirror in the cage…plus some freedom, outside the cage…would help a lot.

Answer #4

It may be lonely and needs a friend. I’m serious.!

Answer #5
