A Neti pot is a cup with a spout that looks like a miniature Aladin's lamp. It is used to rinse the nasal cavities.

Nasal irrigation is used to help people with allergies or sinus infections and in my experience it works very well. There are various techniques used to irrigate the nasal passages including snorting water from a bowl and squirting salt water up your nose with a bulb syringe. Using a neti pot seems to be the easiest and most comfortable way to perform nasal irrigation though it possibly isn't as throuough as using a bulb syringe..

A few years ago I had a lot of problems with allergies causing sinus dranage and getting sinus infections. Nasal irrigation did wonders for me. Rinsing allergens from my sinuses every morning allowed me to stop using Nasonex and I noticed that I got over sinus infections much faster when I used nasal irrigation. Even though neti pots come from alternative medicine (yoga in fact where cleaning your sinuses is considered a standard part of personal hygene) my doctor also is a beleiver.

If you are having problems with your sinuses give it a try. I used to use 1 pint of tepid water with 1 tsp sea salt and 1 tsp baking soda for my saline solution.
