My dog can't stop chewing..

My dog has been chewing and scratching and he seems to be miserable. He is also getting bald spots where he has been chewing. what is wrong? he has also started to nip at anyone who touches these areas.what can I do to make him happy again?

he might just have anxiety issues. My dog does chew on his elbow whenever we leave him home alone. Pay more attention to him and play with him more. If it doesn’t stop you should ask his vet about it next check up.

Bald spots? There might be something wrong with your dog. You might have to take it to a vet. I had a cat who had bald spots but that was because she was allergic to herself. She basically spent years being miserable and suffering until my mom had to go to the vet and have her put down. I would really take you dog to a vet just incase if I were you.

If you’ve eliminated parasites (fleas etc) as the problem, then it could be allergies…it could also be dermatitus…which calls for a trip to the Vet to verify and a special shampoo.

You can also up his Omega 3’s and 6’s by giving him fishoil caps from the Vitamin aisle of any grocery store (or Walmart)…Omega’s are necessary for healthy skin and coat…As is a GOOD dogfood (that is one that has meat as the first 3 ingredients in the ingredient list). Many MANY dogs are allergic to corn…to gluten (from any grain)…

I ended up putting my dog on a grain free kibble…turned out he was allergic to all grains.

this is allergy season for most animals. we have been seeing a bunch at the hosptial I work at, One reason could be because of Fleas, so make sure you are using a good flea treatment like Frontline, advantage, or Revolution. If it is allergies they may need meds from the doctor to help give some relief. Or a proper dose of Benadryl might do it. But you need to take the animal to the vet.
