Math question, please help!

Asked by racinchic 8 months ago, 3 answers.

I am taking a core math class-I'm not good in math at all and I had this question.

A racetrack measures 5 miles long. If a car completes the track in exactly 4 minutes, what is the average speed in miles-per-hour?

The answer is 75 but how do you...

get it?

5 divided by 4

I'm not the best at maths though so don't rely on it.

No... What you have to do is this:

5 miles x 15
=75miles/ hour

If a car travels 5 miles in 4 minutes, you have to work out how many periods of 4 minutes fit into an hour. The answer to that is 15 and so then you must multiply both values by 15. So it becomes 75 miles in 60 minutes. Hope that helps happy!
