Was the Mark of the Beast on his hand?

Okay…Well I suppose people living in Idaho may know what I am talking about. Unless its traveled around that quickly. But…yesterday in my English class…my teacher brought up something random. She asked if anyone read the paper that morning…and of course I didnt. I gave up reading the paper since…I dont know… since I became lazy I guess.. lol but…there were a few that said they had.

And my teacher was saying something about a person…who said he had cut off his hand and cooked it in the microwave. When she said that I was thinking…What??? !! And she went on. She said…he called the police…and I dont know. I guess he either thought or did…im not too sure…but said he had The Mark Of The Beast on his hand…so he cut it off. But…the police said there wasnt anything on his hand…

Is this guy telling the truth or…is he insane? Hmmm I guess insane is a little mean to say…but…I really dont know. My mom always told me about the mark of the beast. And I hoped it wouldnt happen until my days were over. What do you guys think? Im really confused. Do you know what the mark will look like? Do you think them days have come…or are on their way? Ugg im a little scared now…shivers

Doesnt it like say in the bible…you can get it the mark on your forehead or on your hand…? Well see I didnt know this…but I guess in the bible (sorry if im wrong…but feel free to correct me) it says, something like if you have the mark…like on your hand for instance…just cut it off because its better to lose a body part for the Lord rather then your whole body in hell or whatever…

But what if it was on your forehead? What would you do then? Chop your forehead off? Or…I dont know…I probably sound ridiculous…

Opinions and advice are welcome here…so…ill just wait…

You are confusing two different scriptures. Matthew 5: 29

“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.” (RSV)

The mark of the beast is in Revelations 13: 16-18 [16] Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, “17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six.” (RSV)

I have done a lot of research on this scripture and I have found an answer that makes sense to me. I use the Webster’s 1913 dictionary whenever I can to define words of the Bible because the meaning of the words in it and Bible translations of the same time are compatible. The key to understanding the “mark of the beast” in is verse 18 “This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number” and especially the word “reckon”.

The verse is telling you that the answer isn’t easily apparent and further investigation or research is needed to find its meaning. This, I believe, is true “Bible Code”.

Reckon means: “To count; to enumerate;” Enumerate means: “to count over, or tell off one after another”

The first part of verse 18 is telling you to count the letters of “six hundred and sixty-six”. When I added the (-) in the count I came up with “22”. In verse 17 it says that no one can buy or sell unless they have on their person, the hand or the forehead, the mark (name) or number of the beast. The scripture is referring to commerce; and the ability to engage in it. The New Testament is an account of the death and “spiritual” resurrection of Jesus Christ. Revelations specifically is an account of the resurrection (or return) of Jesus physically. The Roman’s were the ruling class when Jesus was resurrected spiritually, and the number two was written as (II). Most if not all Christians believe we are living in the “End of Times” described by Jesus to his disciples, when Revelations says He will be returning physically. In our time the number two could be written to look similar to a reverse (2) or (S). When I was in elementary school the dollar sign had two vertical lines running through the (S), today it has one. So what John was describing may have been a $ with two vertical lines through it.

At first it might sound absurd, until you realize that it is money that motivates evil today. Pornography is prolific because of it. Wars are financed with it. Hollywood producers make movies that are gruesome or lewd and use profane language or show adultery and fornication as if it is acceptable and good because of it. People today will not spend their money as readily on a movie unless it is ‘evil’ by Biblical standards. Look at each successive generation of games for Xbox and similar consoles; they get more and more graphic and realistic and violent. There doesn’t seem to be any way to reverse the trend.

In the Old Testament is says that if your neglect causes someone else’s death you have ‘bloodguilt’ (Deut. 22: 8). You are guilty of killing someone. Today anyone whose taxes finance a war where innocents are killed, they also have bloodguilt. With very few exceptions, everyone is guilty, we finance the wars, see the graphic results on television (except with this President who has censored the news media) and we refuse to stop the funding of it. As it says in Matthew 5: 29, it is our responsibility and our duty to our LORD to not fund it, but we deny our bloodguilt by saying we oppose the war, while still voting those in office who do fund the killing.

With financial security being advanced to stay one step ahead of financial criminals and retina scans being a reality, I see the two merging as an everyday security check for future commercial transactions. The technology is right around the corner for personal and financial information being stored on a chip or similar device implanted under the skin. Is this what John was referring to? Only time will tell.

Personally I would say the guy was mentally disturbed when he did this.

The number 666 is probably one of the most misinterpreted symbols in history.

It’s likely that the symbol was used by the author of Revelation to refer to one of the Roman Emperors, probably Nero, Caligula, or Domitian, all of whom persecuted Christians and/or desecrated holy places in Jerusalem during their reign. The reasoning behind this is that the numbers have corresponding letters and syllables according to ancient symbolism and gematria used in both the Hebrew and Greek languages. This is the only hypothesis supported by history. The fact that early Christians referred to Domitian as “The Beast” for his severe persecution adds to this theory.

Of course, there is also the discovery of the number 616, when scholars using advanced imaging techniques were able to better read more original versions of Revelation. The papyrus from which they took this reading clearly uses the numbers 616; it’s important to realize that 616 corresponds to Nero’s name in Latin, while 666 corresponds to his name in Hebrew, from a Greek translation.

This may be a bit confusing, but do some research on the symbol 666 and you’ll soon realize that it was used along with countless other symbols by early Christians to refer to Roman authorities. This was because they lived in a time when their faith had to be practiced largely underground, and in secret.

To me the mark means what one does with his mind…

Mark on the forehead…

what one does with his hands…

Mark on the hands…

We think with our minds, and act with our hands…

So, what we do and what we think…

proves who we follow…

Man , God or Self…

Our actions speak louder than words…

God judges the intent of the heart…

God marks his people… with his mark…

The Holy Spirit…

What spirit is within you???

This is the bottom line…

On Judgement day…

We are not promised a tommorrow…

Yesterday is gone…

Today, is the day of salvation…

If we turn to him with our whole hearts, we will be saved.

He will turn no one away…

Who comes to him in truth…

He made the way… Plain…

But, we do have a part …

And that is to receive, and believe… .and act on what we believe…

Multitudes in the valley of decision…

If you feel drawn by his spirit, call on him…

He will hear you…

Find out his will…

In his word…

Harden not your hearts, as in the day of provocation,

when multitudes died in the wilderness…

Of unbelief…

The one sin that God can’t forgive…

Because you refuse to receive what he has provided…

You sentance yourself…

His arms are outstretched and waiting…

uhg…it still…bothers me…yeah he sounds a little…awkward and such but…just the thought…I hope it doesnt happen soon soon…like…100 years would be good…because my time would be over…but still… uhh so…the mark would be 666 or wouldnt be? hmm maybe I didnt understand some of the comments…but im still confused…

I have go with “mentally ill” here…I mean, if he’d never heard of the “Mark of the Beast”, but still saw 666 on his hand…he might have decided it was the “Mark of a Mathmatical Genius” instead.

That guy was mentally ill. He saw something that wasn’t there, or misinterpreted what he saw. The guy needs some serious help, or the next thing he might “see” is his neighbors’ children with this so called mark of the beast, and try to harm them.

Alright, seriously, to Elone, that was crazy about the dollar sign. Personally, you know, since Jesus’s actual name started with a why in english, and ‘n’ starts the word Neptune, a god who is not christian. If you combine the 2, you get an airplane that’s a crazy dancer! Dang dancing airplanes. If you think about, they are what ruin society.

Yeah, your’s was even worse sounding. Who do you know writes 2’s backwards so that they look like s’s, unless your friends are all five year olds? And where the heck did you pull two out of?

I don’t believe in any of that stuff but I do remember reading it repeatedly when I was a believer. If I remember right, people have a choice whether to receive the mark or not. It’s another of those “trials and tribulations” that the faithful will endure.

If I’m wrong, I’m sure someone will set me right.

As to this guy, I think he must be unwell at the very least to have so mutilated himself.
