I don't think 1000 is starvation mode, but it is not enough in my opinion. I think 1200 should be the least.

it's not healthy. your body isn't going to take to it well and you may lose weight, yeah, but it's not healthy. your metabolism is going to slow down because you need more calorie intake than that a day to stay healthy.

I think it is because you need 2400 calories to survive why you want to eat 1000 calories at the first place

1,000 is on the border of starvation mode.
it would be best to have more if you want to avoid it.

I hate to sound awful or like I promote starvation, but I never eat over 1000 calories a day, sometimes less than that, and I'm perfectly healthy.

The recommended daily allowance is merely a guideline, it all depends on your natural appetite and body shape/size.

I'm 56 and naturally quite small so I have a very small appetite.

I can't see that it is as I went to my doctor reecently and asked for slimming pills she refused and gave a diet sheet that has 10 breakfasts of 250cals, 11 lunches of 300cals and 10 dinners of 350cals which you choose one of for each meal, it also keeps in mind things like milk in your tea and spreads on your toast or bread. Personally 1000cals a day is not enough for me by only eating 3 meals a day. Instead I use special k. I eat special k for breakfast around 9am, fruit at 11, one of the meals for lunch or dinners on sheet at 1pm, fruit at 3, special k at 5, special k bar at 7. This gives me around 1000cals a day but I am never hungry. altough I did ony start yesterday lol. So no I don't think 1000cals a day is starvation as my doctor would not have given me this sheet if it was.

typically your body need 1200 cal to keep it its natural energy. but if you are looking to take off a quick 5lbs and plan to only go 1000 cal for a short time (I say no more than 2 weeks) then you will not starve. the longer you deprive your body of the energy it needs (thru cals and food) the more it will naturally fight to weight loss to try to hold onto the fat energy already stored!
