How do you mod games?

Nodding takes much time and lots of money in some cases. Careful, it’s illegal under all circumstances no matter what is said. Anybody who wants to disagree can go spend their time reading the New Millenium Copyright Act. Basically thehard line is don’t screw with stuff other people made. Best of luck.

not to be an a$$ - but that’s like saying ‘Hey can you just over the internet teach me the whole Japanese language?? From scratch” or closer to “Teach me how code in C+, Java, and how the whole XML thing works, then how to do 3-D Modeling and export those skins”

any ways, it really depends on the game - some have built in options for modding or are as easy as swapping out skin files, and maybe opening an config file with notepad and editing a few lines. Others you are re-writting half the game.

So first thing you need to do is find out if your game you want to mod has built in support for mods to be loaded (like Civ 4). Now because Civ 4 was made to be modded there are several great websites for downloading mods for it, and with guides to create them.

Basically I would say you need to spend some time on google, and be prepared for a serious commitment of time. We are talking you might be writing partial mods in a couple months. you need to learn how to make the skin files, usually involves some 3-d modding. Also look into what codding language the games use.

I’m not saying any of this to discourage you, if you want to mod games go for it!!! But be prepared for a to spend a lot of time researching and learning how to do it.
