Two more free ones that I would also install in addition to Malwarebytes are SuperAntispyware free edition and A-Squared free edition. Also you need a good history, cookie remover and none better than the free CCleaner also known as Crap Cleaner free editon. Use all. What one will miss the other one will get.

You need a few programs to protect yourself, antivirus, antispyware/malware and firewall Something to detect rootkts is useful too but a lot of other programs and some anti-virus programs can do that

AVG for anti-virus Spybot or Ad-Aware for anti-spyware Zone Alarm for two-way firewall

All have free versions available at http://download.cnet.com/windows/ (it’s the same site as http://www.download.com)

malwarebytes may be very good. It gets a high rating from cnet.

I use AVG. But more important…An antivirus may not do a good job and leave malware and adware on your drive. Use the free program malwarebytes. You will be amazed how many things it finds.

avg or spybot..make sure its bot and not spyware, you can get it from www.download.com
