What can I do now that my future is ruined?

I’m supposed to be going into my second year of college, but I live 45 minutes away. Campus is in Downtown Atlanta. My mom says I cannot commute again, last semester I lived on campus, but can’t this semester cause it’s expensive and I hated it. If I cannot find a place to live fast (School starts Aug. 17, but I need to get ahead on this) then I will have to withdraw from school because (we are not rich and only have one messed up car) and my sister is going to school locally and will need the car. So I’m trying to figure out what to do with my life now that it’s gone completely down the drain. I work at Subway now, should I switch to full time, or get a better job like at a gas station?

Hey… Find a room in a cheap shared house around the Uni for a semester. I’m sure your campus has an off campus accommodation center to help you out. You have lots of time until you start.

I have always done this and it’s a great way to meet new people. Also, it’s better than living on campus because you have more freedoms and less restrictions.

Life as a student is hard, but not a permanent situation. I do not think that you should consider dropping out because you have no car. There are ways around this.

what is wrong with switching schools to the same school your sister is at?

Also you could go full time with the best job you can find right now and try to get a car so you could be ready for school next year. That takes a lot of discipline, most people will spend their entire paycheck, so you definitely need to make a budget and stick to it should that be your choice.

Also you could find some roommates who want to live near campus, but not on campus and get your own place out there. I am sure that you could take a bus to work and school. Hopefully Atlanta’s public transportation is not absolutely horrid.

Your life is not ruined, it’s just not as simple as it was before. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t like to get ahead. It’s part of life. Should you always take the easy way out you’ll never grow as a person, you’ll never discover what is really inside. Instead you’ll only be left wondering what if. Best of luck to you.
