Would water colors stay on clay if you painted clay with water colors?

Answer #1

Maybe but there has to be alot of coats applied.

Answer #2

I think they would stay but they wouldn’t be bright.

Answer #3

No it would rub off. Try acrylic paints, but don’t thin them out too much with water. Good luck!

Answer #4

Makes sense. Thanks.

Answer #5

Nope, the won’t last. Best is to use Acrylic paint when painting on clay, water colour will most likely just wash off.

Answer #6

Acrylics arent as cheap s water colors, thats why I want to use them instead. :(

Answer #7

What if, fter it dries I put a glaze on it, would that preserve the color?

Answer #8

after*

Answer #9

The best kind of paint to use on clay is acrylic paint. Watercolors would stay but it would stick as good as acrylic.

Answer #10

Yes, that would work a lot better and should keep the colour on, but still water colour paint is not generally the best thing to paint on with clay. Don’t go out and buy it especially for the clay if you have it at home, it’s fine use it.

Answer #11

I’ll do that, horraay.

Answer #12

At Walmart they have an art section that usually carries either Reeves or Rowney acrylics in sets of 8 to 24 tubes. Or if you want cheaper, you could buy some single tubes of the Folk Art acrylic paint (look for the ones designated “artists pigments”). This all can be found at Walmart!

Once you use whichever one of these you decide on, after it has dried, spray it with some Krylon Kamar varnish……it will make the colours come alive and preserve it for the next century.

Answer #13

not really the best… water colour needs to b on a obsorbant surface… try acrylic paint
