Volleyball concentration?

Hi kayy so at my school im in the varsity a team. Today was our first game, and me and another person are permanent setters,, so we play the whole game, usually I play well like in practice, but today I so sucked after the first quarter we won, then we lost the next 2. I totally tried to keep my concentration and have a positive attitude, but I just brought myself down. =[ does anyone know any good ways to keep my focus in volleyball??? Please I relle dont want to get pulled out of my next game on friday!

I have the same problem and volleyball is one of the hardest sports to focus in because it’s a waiting game. I’m libero and power so I’m always on court. I constantly move my feet back and forth and concentrate on my feet in general like a rocking motion in a way. Because I rock back and forth I find I focus more and am less distracted when someone is serving. Also it screws up the other team royaly because they think pro and they usually mess up. Other than that don’t look at the score board because it puts a lot of pressure on you as a players and also makes the game feel like it’s dragging on if you are down a few points. Anyways good luck but I’m kind of suprise because usually volleball season is september to november and the clubs( outside vball teams) are from december to may. what school league are you in?

what helps me is when im on my way to a game, ill chat w/ my friends on the bus and get really pumped about the game, and then like five minutes before we get there, we are all quiet so that we can get really serious and focused on the game.

Before the game take a couple of minutes to just sit somewhere and close your eyes. Relax your entire body and just forget about the world for a couple of minutes. Then after that get prepared for the game/practice and hopefully you will be able to focus a bit more.
