Losing wait on a vegetarian diet?

Do you really lose wait due to a new Vegetarian diet? :)

Answer #1

I agree with maddykins… it really does depend on how you eat, what you eat, and if you work out…

I eat a high veggie diet and I don’t gain nor lose weight and if I ever its cause I didn’t eat properly for a little bit and it that case its never more then 5lbs then it’ll go back to normal when I get my eating back on track…

But I used to like crazy work out when I became vegetarian and I lost like 30 lbs within 1-2months… so I had to increase the amount I ate…

OH and what type of vegetarian you are can change the effects as well…

Oh and I’ve been a vegetarian for 4 years… actually it’ll be 5years in octorber… (I’m oct-vegetarian technically… but I only eat 1 dairy product…, so I’m almost vegan haha)

Hmm, have you ever come across a chubby vegetarian? If you are sensible regarding what you eat and incorporate protein, iron and calcium into your diet, a potential vegetarian ‘health will suffer’ from lack of nutrition…NOT.

Agreed wtih Samuelsantos advice.

Answer #3

your health will suffer unless you take suppliments is definitly not true. vitamins would help a lot,but you dont NEED them. theres many foods that have protien, and other “necessaties” you can find a lot of tips on websites for vegatarian associations.

Answer #4

in a way but just becomming vegetarian in hopes of loosing weight is stupid theres a lot of nitrients your body needs that arnt found in vegetables and your health will suffer unless you use suppliments

Answer #5

I think it depends on if you’re eating mostly veggies and fruits because otherwise youre eating all carbs which won’t really get you anywhere. But it’s good for the animals! I’m a vegetarian and I’ve been one for over 3 years :)

Answer #6

it depends on how you eat. im a vegetarian and the first six or so months, I didnt eat that many vegetables and mostly ate carbs. I gained like ten pounds the first six months. if you eat a healthy vegetarian diet tho, you will lose weight.

Answer #7

Not necessarily, I’ve seen chubby vegetarians before. Being vegan helps but not vegetarians really. You loose weight as a vegan a lot because you can’t have any eggs or butter or animal products so no cookies cakes, ice creams or meats and things.

Vegetarians can still eat animal products so they can still make bad food choices like fried foods (french fries, onion rings) and sweet foods (cakes, cookies, ice cream). It all depends what you are putting into your body. The only way to healthily loose weight is to rearrange your diet so that you are eating healthy foods and getting more exercise as well as taking out the bad foods.

Answer #8

I’ve been vegan for 10 months and in that time I only lost 15 pounds, however I lost that weight by exercising more, eating less junk food (yes, vegan junk food exists) and having no dressing with my salad is what made me lose weight.
