You can listen to whatever you read that makes you feel better. over the course of 20 years I have lost 5 cats. It never gets easy. I now have 3 cats and 2 dogs. Its gonna be hellish when my 15 year old cat dies - seems like he will outlive me… I only had my dogs for less than a year, but I am gonna be more so devastated than the cats - they are just with me more -

you have to go through the grieving process just like we do with humans. I too have them all cremated. I am getting ready to prepare the hall way with their pics and ashes mounted on the wall…

The reason I bring the all up, is that you can’t change the past, but if you get another pet, you can start “preparing” mentally in advance. The 15 yo cat has become a family joke - Is that Beef Jerky crying in the background?? he’s still alive?? (thats his nick name cause that’s how withered he is…)

Aww…I had to go through this myself just last year..I slowly got over it by saying to my self it was just a pet.Don’t get me wrong I loved my dog like it were my child but when you replace the thought of someone close to you dying compared to your pet you kinda become more grateful that you still have your loved one’s alive.Hope You Feel Better. And Hoped I Helped.-signed Dollface*

if your animal dies you should rember him/her for what she was like she was a good pet or she always cheered me up not the bad moments. make a scrapbook about you and your family AND your PET or just of pet that is what im doing now. my pet died 4 days ago but she was not a cat or dog she was a rabbit and she was only 3 1/2 years old but I remeber her for what she was. I hope this helped. form alyssa

Answer #8

I think the best way is to just let it all out cry as much as you like, in the end you just have to think what a wonderful life they had and just think at least they are not in pain and I know this is probably not the answer you want to hear because you would rather me say something like there is a super way but there isn’t just do you best and cry it helps hope this helps you a lot I have already had 2 cats and 2 dogs die of myn and tomorrow my cat is being put down I know how you feel

Answer #9

okay. don’t listen to dollface. that won’t help.

what you should do is be sad. if it’s your favorite pet, then you have a right to be sad. however, would you have wanted him/her to stay on earth and suffer through pain? you should be glad that it was a quick death because it was what was best. sometimes you are sad, but look back at the wonderful memories that you to shared, and you use those instead of the bad things that happened. they had a wonderful life here and you were there to make sure that their last hours were great.

I hope this helps

Until next time, Sancha

I lost my Rottie on 1-2-09. I got a picture of her into 8x10 and matted it and framed it. It is in black and white. I also had her crematied and brought her ashes home. I think about her a lot and I ‘am even looking at a picture of her right now. I just remember what a wonderful friend she was and everytime I think of her I have to smile.
