What Thanksgiving was your most lonely and miserable?

Answer #1

When i was in my late teens after having being kicked out, i was far too embaressed to call up my mother and ask to attend their thanksgiving. I didnt want them to see what i had become and how bad i looked since i was a homeless junkie. So i spent thanksgiving at a friends house on their sofa strung out. Im so thankful ive overcome all of that and have a reason to spend holidays with my family and with a family of my own now. I dont care how much people say it doesnt matter, spending time with your family over the holidays is something that cant be relplaced.

I had spent a few. But not as hard as Mandyloo’s. When I was 18 in the military I didn’t have any money to travel to my parents and it was my first Thanksgiving away from home. Most of my roommates when home and I was left alone and end up just having the military turkey meal on base. The other time was when I was driving cross country as a truck driver. The company I worked with told me that they get me home for thanksgiving. But they waited too long and could not find any freight that was going by my house. So I spent Thanksgiving inside the Truck parked in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

My worst Thanksgiving wasn’t as rough as mandyloo’s but was my Junior year at college when I lived in the dorms. They closed the dorms for the week and I didn’t have money to go home or get a hotel room. I had slept in my music practice room the previous years but this year the police were going through the building arresting anyone there after hours for trespassing. I didn’t even have a car to sleep in. For a week I was homeless, took my showers at the gym, spent my days in the library and slept outside on a bench at night. I think I ate at a Mexican restaurant on Thanksgiving.

The last couple years i’ve spent it with my father, we go out an ea chinese food, I dont think i’ve had a lonely and miserable thanksgiving ever. We dont go and see the rest of the family, they get together without us, we dont really ever feel the need to spend time with them.

I don’t having anything that compares to most of these, but the worst for me was when I was 10th grader, and sick as hell. I spent pretty much that hole break from school asleep and really miserable. Didn’t even really eat Thanksgiving dinner with my family.
